US: Strong Winter Storm Brings Blizzard Conditions To Sierra Nevada 3

A strong winter storm hit the Sierra Nevada on Friday, March 1, bringing heavy snow and high winds. Blizzard Warnings were issued for the area, including Lake Tahoe and eastern Nevada. The Sierra Avalanche Center warned that the danger of avalanches was high. Yosemite National Park and many ski resorts in the region announced they were closing at least for the day.

Sanwa exec to become UFJ Bank president instead of Muromachi

TOKYO, Japan - Masashi Teranishi (file photo), senior managing director at Sanwa Bank, will become president of UFJ Bank when it is launched Jan. 15, and not Sanwa Bank President Kaneo Muromachi, as had been earlier decided, a Sanwa Bank spokesman said Dec. 21. The UFJ Financial Group comprising Sanwa Bank, Tokai Bank, and Toyo Trust & Banking Co.

Sanwa, Tokai, Asahi banks to form banking group

TOKYO, Japan - Sanwa Bank, Tokai Bank and Asahi Bank announce March 14 they will set up a joint holding company in April 2001 to form Japan's 2nd largest banking group.
